The project takes place annually. It is organised by ‘The International Summer Academy on Media of Thessaloniki’ (THISAM) and the Greek Consulate General in Erbil (the capital of the Kurdish Region of Iraq). The aim of this project is to organise diplomatic missions in KRI, creating a team of journalists, academics and liaison managers, specialised in topics related to Media and Communications, International Relations, Public Diplomacy, Political Theory and History. It builds bridges between universities, officials from global International Organisations. It involves meetings and round-table discussions about ceasefire and peace-making with politicians, leaders of persecuted religious and ethnic minorities of the region (such as the leaders of Christian groups as well as of the Yazidi community of the KRI).

Organisations involved: International Summer Academy on Media of Thessaloniki project, run by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, under the auspices of the Greek Consulate-General in Erbil (Kurdish Region of Iraq).

Deliverables: Participating as a scientific collaborator, delivering lectures in war and democracy, engaging in discussions with students and academics, in the Goethe Institute of Erbil, the Regional Parliament of Iraqi Kurdistan, in Department of Foreign Relations (DFR) of the Kurdish Government.

The first mission took place in May 2022. The second is scheduled for May 2023.
