A volume for a co-editing volume with Edinburgh University Press, titled Ethical Motives on Leadership, is currently prepared. In this project, distinguished scholars will contribute with chapter-articles on leadership from different perspectives and schools of thought: liberalism, Neoplatonism, Islamic political thought, Byzantine philosophy, and so on. The project is interdisciplinary: it integrates insights from International Political Theory, Political Philosophy, Intellectual History, International Relations and Literature to examine the ethical foundations of leadership in an era marked by global crises, moral dilemmas in governance, and the erosion of trust in political authority.

At a time when leadership failures (whether in international conflicts, democratic backsliding, or ethical lapses in decision-making) dominate public discourse, this volume addresses a pressing need for nuanced, cross-cultural reflections on the moral motives that should guide leaders, drawing on diverse traditions to inform contemporary challenges in Comparative Political Theory, Leadership and War Studies. The project’s significance is underscored by the trust placed in my organisational and academic leadership by a cohort of highly distinguished international scholars, many affiliated with prestigious institutions and supported by substantial research funding.
